    Why it ranks
Wire-free LiDAR mapping gets it mowing with little setup, and it steers around people, plants and furniture. The smaller battery can run out before a full pass, and mowing an average yard may take a couple of hours.
    What people praise
    • Steers around people and furniture
    • Trims edges as well as mowing
    • Runs quietly in the yard
    Common complaints
    • Battery can run out mid-mow

    Why it ranks
Edge trimming along borders means no weed whacking after a run, and dual LiDAR maps the yard without wires or an RTK base. Cameras keep it from running over kids or pets, and it climbs aggressive slopes.
    What people praise
    • Sturdier build than many robot mowers
    • Recharges fully in about 70 minutes
    • Flip-over blades are quick to swap

    Why it ranks
App-guided setup walks through the base station, updates and yard mapping quickly, and the cut stays even through thick, long grass. Network RTK signal can drop out under heavy tree cover or beside buildings.
    What people praise
    • Handles thick, long grass and sticks
    • Quiet enough to mow at night
    • Runs hands-off once set up
    Common complaints

    Why it ranks
Setup is quick: place the base, draw boundaries in the app, and it mows quietly into tight corners. Positioning can drop out and leave it stuck, and Bluetooth-only manual control is frustrating.
    What people praise
    • Barely audible while mowing
    • Draw boundaries in the app, no wires
    • Hardware feels solidly built
    Common complaints
    • Can lose position and get stuck

    Why it ranks
Out of the box it is mowing in about half an hour with no manual mapping, and a five-blade disc cuts cleanly. Larger lawns can take many hours over several charges, and a firmware update may leave it stalling or stuck.
    What people praise
    • Clear instructions and foolproof connectors
    • Holds its track under trees and overhangs
    • Runs on a schedule with little attention
    Common complaints
    • Support can be very hard to reach
    • A firmware update can cause stalls and sticking

    Why it ranks
Camera and RTK navigation steer around obstacles and handle tricky side yards, and wire-free setup is just a drive around the yard. Support can be slow or unhelpful when a unit fails, and one stopped charging altogether.
    What people praise
    • Spots objects ahead and changes direction
    • App guides mapping and Wi-Fi setup
    • Covers the lawn faster than a camera-only rival
    Common complaints
    • Support can drag on for weeks
    • Battery can get stuck at zero charge

    Why it ranks
Four-wheel drive with independent suspension keeps it steady on steep, uneven ground, and LiDAR, RTK and camera navigation hold course under trees. Active steering turns the wheels so it does not tear up soft turf.
    What people praise
    • Six blades slice through thick grass
    • Edge blade trims within 3 cm of walls

    Why it ranks
RTK positioning lays down straight stripes without boundary wire, and AI obstacle avoidance suits a yard shared with dogs. Trimming can miss strips along fences, so some edges may still need a pass by hand.
    What people praise
    • Arrives almost fully assembled

    Why it ranks
Self-mapping on first start leaves little setup work, and AI vision steers cleanly around obstacles. Edges and tight corners still call for a trimmer, and set no-go zones may not always hold.
    What people praise
    • Maps the garden on its own
    • Avoids obstacles cleanly
    • Hose it off after mud or mess
    Common complaints
    • Can drive into a set no-go zone

    Why it ranks
Dual LiDAR maps the yard without boundary wire or an antenna, and the blades cut cleanly right up to the edges. Auto-mapping can miss patchy, shaded borders, though mapping by hand is still easy.

Camera navigation maps the yard on its own and avoids obstacles, with no boundary wire or antenna, and it mows in neat, methodical rows. Lawns that share a border with a neighbour are tricky to map, and virtual boundaries need extra margin.
    What people praise
    • Spots obstacles, even a hole in the yard
    • Mows in thorough, methodical patterns
    • Plug in the base and start, no wires
    Common complaints
    • Shared lawn borders are tricky to map

    Why it ranks
Overgrown grass gets cut on the first pass, and the deck lifts for cleaning. Reliability is mixed: it can stall in tough patches, runtime per charge may fall short of the claim, and the deck needs frequent clearing.
    What people praise
    • Cuts long grass on the first pass
    • Spots obstacles and turns away
    • Interchangeable blades ease upkeep
    Common complaints

    Why it ranks
Steep, uneven yards suit it best: all-wheel drive climbs hard slopes while LiDAR, vision and network RTK steer precisely around objects. Fence lines and flower beds still need string trimming after a run.
    What people praise
    • Climbs very steep hills without trouble
    • Spots, classifies and reroutes around objects
    • Quiet while it works

Tracked drive keeps it steady on inclines and through tall, overgrown grass, leaving an even cut in long, organised passes. Some blades can push grass over instead of cutting it, and edges may be left short of boundaries.
    What people praise
    • Even mowing from the first run
    • Live camera feed and phone joystick
    • Quieter than expected
    Common complaints
    • Blades can leave grass uncut

    Why it ranks
Zone schedules let it cover several areas and still return with charge to spare, and a floating deck keeps the cut even on bumpy ground. A rear drive wheel may need repair after about one season.
    What people praise
    • Returns to the dock with battery to spare
    • Floating deck cuts evenly on bumpy ground
    • Common repairs need only basic tools
    Common complaints

Ten-minute setup with no RTK antenna and an even cut make it easy to start with. The edge trimmer splits opinion and is loud when it runs, and support and software can lag behind the hardware.

    • Set up in under 10 minutes
    • Edge trimmer follows borders accurately

No RTK antenna is needed, and everyday mowing is very quiet. Cutting is mixed: neat back-and-forth rows at the set height, but tight inside corners can be missed, and a long, narrow lawn may hit the area limit.

    Why it ranks
Once mapped, LiDAR navigation and obstacle avoidance are excellent and it rarely needs rescuing, with a clean cut and few missed blades. Mapping and manual controls are the weak spot, and overgrown lawns slow it down.
    What people praise
    • Clean cut with very few missed blades
    • Navigation is the highlight once mapped
    • Threads tight drop-offs without falling
    Common complaints
    • Mapping can fail and lose progress

How this list is ranked

Who is eligible
Every robot lawn mower in our reviewed catalogue is included, wire-free and boundary-wire alike. Remote-controlled mowers you drive yourself are left out, and so are second listings of the same mower. The list opens on current models, those released in the last 2½ years (since Apr 2024); choose Include older models under Models to list them too. A product without a release date on record is always listed.
How they are ordered
By default, products are ordered by Ranking Net Score: points from reviews and discussions plus points from votes on BettaScore. Ties go to the product with more sources. Filtering or sorting renumbers the results from No. 1. Products without scored evidence stay Unranked and are not numbered.
Where the evidence comes from
213 public review sources across the matching products. Select a review topic on any card to see the quotes behind its points.
When it changes
The product list and review scores change only when we publish a reviewed update. Signed-in visitors can vote on each review topic (open a topic on a card): every vote adds or takes 0.1 points from that topic and from the Ranking Net Score straight away, and the order follows on the next page load. Votes are stored apart from review evidence, so they carry over between updates. Review evidence is from October 7, 2026.
Who pays for it
Nobody. BettaScore does not accept payment for placement. Each card shows review points and topic-vote points separately, even though their sum sets the default order.

What to look for in a robot lawn mower

Start with your lawn: its size, slopes, narrow passages and separate zones decide which navigation (boundary wire, RTK satellite positioning, LiDAR or cameras) and how much coverage you need.

Then compare what the evidence says about cut quality and edges, how reliably it navigates and avoids obstacles, setup and mapping, the app, and how it copes with rain and time.

Questions to take to every card on this page

  • Is it rated for your lawn size and slopes?
  • How does it find its way: wire, RTK, LiDAR or vision?
  • How close does it cut to edges?
  • How easy is setup, and does the app let you map zones and no-go areas?

Frequently asked questions

What does this robot lawn mower list cover?
All reviewed robot lawn mowers in our catalogue. Products with scored review evidence get a rank; the rest stay on the list, marked Unranked.
How is the default order calculated?
Ranking Net Score adds points from reviews and discussions to points from BettaScore votes, and each card shows both parts. A vote counts right away: it updates the card and can move the product in the list.
How do filters and sorting affect rank?
They apply to the whole list and renumber the results: scored matches start from No. 1, and products without scored review evidence stay Unranked. Filtering and sorting never change a product's review or vote points.
Why are some specifications missing?
BettaScore shows only the facts it has on record. An unknown value is not treated as No, and we never fill a missing specification or evidence section with a made-up claim.
