    Why it ranks
Strong suction clears floors, walls and steps, and it heads back to its solar dock to recharge, so it rarely needs fishing out. Docking, the app and firmware updates can be unreliable, and support may be slow to answer.
    What people praise
    • Strong suction packs the basket with leaves
    • Scrubs walls and the waterline
    • Feels sturdy and well built
    Common complaints
    • Can stop docking reliably after a few days
    • App can fail to connect or send commands

    Why it ranks
Camera-guided dirt hunting seeks out debris such as algae, dust and leaves, and it climbs walls to scrub the waterline. Both filters may need rinsing after every run, and the warranty feels short.
    What people praise
    • Picks up rocks, dust and algae
    • Ready to go straight out of the box
    • Parks at the wall when low for easy retrieval
    Common complaints
    • Warranty could be more generous

    25 sources
    Why it ranks
Pool floors come clean of leaves, grass clippings and fine dirt, and emptying the filter takes a quick rinse. Wall climbing is inconsistent, it must be started by hand, and some units stop mid-cycle and need return shipping for warranty repairs.
    What people praise
    • Picks up leaves, clippings and fine dirt
    • Filter empties with a quick hose rinse
    • Saves hours of manual vacuuming
    Common complaints
    • Can stop at random mid-cycle

    Why it ranks
Caterpillar treads and side sensors let it climb walls and work around obstacles, clearing leaves, sand and algae even from a very dirty pool. Suction and speed may trail top rivals, and a six-hour charge buys about four hours of cleaning.
    What people praise
    • Handles a very dirty pool better than expected
    • Remote steers, parks and starts it
    • Parks at the edge for lifting out
    Common complaints
    • Suction can trail top-tier rivals

    Why it ranks
Light, compact build makes it easy to lift in and out of the pool, and setup is little more than switching it on. Floor scrubbing clears small to large debris, though standard-mode cleaning trails bigger cleaners and the small basket fills quickly.
    What people praise
    • Gets around the ladder without sticking
    • Light enough to pull out easily
    • Solid, well-made build

    What people praise
    • Climbs walls and picks up debris well
    • Easy to carry by its handle
    • Pull-out filter rinses clean with a hose
    Common complaints

    6 sources
    Why it ranks
An extra-large filter bin holds plenty of debris between cleanings, and the filter pops open for an easy rinse. Mapping steers it across the floor rather than bumping at random, though a unit may stop cleaning if its impeller quits.
    What people praise
    • Extra-large bin holds lots of debris
    • Filter empties with a press and a rinse
    • Maps the pool as it cleans
    Common complaints
    • Can stop running when the impeller quits

    Why it ranks
Floor, wall and waterline coverage is thorough, and the Wi-Fi app sends an alert when the filter is full. A communication fault between the power supply and the robot can leave it unresponsive.
    What people praise
    • Cleans the waterline as well as floor and walls
    • App alerts you when the filter is full
    • Gets stuck less than older Dolphin models
    Common complaints

    Why it ranks
Almost no prep is needed out of the box, and it runs on its own without the app, so you can drop it in and let it work. Fine particles can slip through the all-mesh basket, and cleaning may disappoint between frequent recharges.
    What people praise
    • Works without the app if you prefer
    • Basket opens and empties in seconds
    • Easy to drop in and let it run
    Common complaints
    • Charging port can overheat and melt the cable

    9 sources
    Why it ranks
Cordless and app-optional, it scrubs floors and walls, then climbs to the waterline at the end of a cycle for an easy lift-out. Corner cleaning can fall short of corded rivals, and a wrong angle during retrieval may tip it sideways.
    What people praise
    • Scrub brushes chew through grime
    • Rises to the waterline for easy pickup
    • Still runs like new after years of use
    Common complaints
    • Can miss debris in corners

Plain, app-free operation works like a waterproof floor vacuum, clearing leaves and dirt from the pool bottom and parking itself when the battery runs low. It does not clean stairs or walls, so it suits basic floor upkeep.

    • Filter is easy to clean

    Why it ranks
Systematic S-shaped passes cover the floor and run up and down the walls, and it goes over drains without trouble. Obstacle avoidance can fail, bumping into objects before turning, and a bubbler may trip it up.

    • Works through the pool in an orderly pattern

    • Navigation is its strongest point
    Common complaints

    Why it ranks
Scrubbing power suits pools with stubborn stains, and coverage is thorough once it is in the water. Small filter cartridges fill fast under trees, and it can stall on steps or keep returning to the same spots.
    What people praise
    • Scrubs away stubborn stains
    • Thorough floor and wall coverage
    Common complaints
    • Can loop the same spots and flip on stairs

    What people praise
    • Scrubs dirt out of floor tile gaps
    • Gets past ladders and lights without sticking
    • Stays off the tile edge while skimming

How this list is ranked

Who is eligible
Every robot pool cleaner in our reviewed catalogue is included. Surface-only skimmer robots are left out. The list opens on current models, those released in the last 2½ years (since Apr 2024); choose Include older models under Models to list them too. A product without a release date on record is always listed.
How they are ordered
By default, products are ordered by Ranking Net Score: points from reviews and discussions plus points from votes on BettaScore. Ties go to the product with more sources. Filtering or sorting renumbers the results from No. 1. Products without scored evidence stay Unranked and are not numbered.
Where the evidence comes from
164 public review sources across the matching products. Select a review topic on any card to see the quotes behind its points.
When it changes
The product list and review scores change only when we publish a reviewed update. Signed-in visitors can vote on each review topic (open a topic on a card): every vote adds or takes 0.1 points from that topic and from the Ranking Net Score straight away, and the order follows on the next page load. Votes are stored apart from review evidence, so they carry over between updates. Review evidence is from October 7, 2026.
Who pays for it
Nobody. BettaScore does not accept payment for placement. Each card shows review points and topic-vote points separately, even though their sum sets the default order.

What to look for in a robot pool cleaner

Start with your pool: in-ground or above-ground, its size and shape, and whether you need the walls and waterline cleaned as well as the floor.

Then compare what the evidence says about debris pickup and filtration, coverage and navigation, battery life, how easy it is to get out of the water and empty, and reliability.

Questions to take to every card on this page

  • Does it suit your pool type and size?
  • Does it climb walls and clean the waterline?
  • Will one charge cover your pool?
  • How easy is it to retrieve and empty the filter?

Frequently asked questions

What does this robot pool cleaner list cover?
All reviewed robot pool cleaners in our catalogue. Products with scored review evidence get a rank; the rest stay on the list, marked Unranked.
How is the default order calculated?
Ranking Net Score adds points from reviews and discussions to points from BettaScore votes, and each card shows both parts. A vote counts right away: it updates the card and can move the product in the list.
How do filters and sorting affect rank?
They apply to the whole list and renumber the results: scored matches start from No. 1, and products without scored review evidence stay Unranked. Filtering and sorting never change a product's review or vote points.
Why are some specifications missing?
BettaScore shows only the facts it has on record. An unknown value is not treated as No, and we never fill a missing specification or evidence section with a made-up claim.
