    Why it ranks
Low-profile keys with a lovely, comfortable feel suit long typing sessions without a wrist rest, and a charge can last weeks. Some units develop doubled, missed or stuck keypresses and a metallic ping, so quality can vary from board to board.

Very low latency and responsive Hall effect switches suit competitive gaming in any genre, and the board feels solid with minimal flex. The iCUE software has a learning curve and can mishandle remapped modifier keys, and there is no wireless option.

    Why it ranks
Per-key actuation and rapid trigger are easy to tune in a web app, and the heavy, well-damped case feels built like a tank. Keypresses can be missed or ghosted, the typing angle can feel awkward over long sessions, and it is too heavy to carry around.
    What people praise
    • Soft, very quiet typing
    • Low latency for casual or competitive gaming
    • Battery lasts about two days with backlight on
    Common complaints
    • Keypresses can be missed or register on their own

    Why it ranks
Pre-lubed switches on a gasket mount give a cushioned, polished typing feel, and the side keys can be remapped in Logitech's app for office shortcuts. Typing is on the loud side for shared spaces, and latency is too high for fast competitive games.
    What people praise
    • Backlit legends are easy to read in the dark
    • Connects by 2.4GHz receiver or Bluetooth
    • Stock switches are light and very smooth
    Common complaints

    Why it ranks
Exceptionally low latency and per-key actuation tuned in a polished web app make this low-profile board quick enough for competitive play. It is wired only, the flat stock keycaps can feel featureless, and support can be unhelpful when a switch fails.
    What people praise

    • Smooth switches with no scratch or ping
    • Holds up well after a year and a half

    Why it ranks
Tri-mode wireless switches cleanly between devices and a single charge can last over a week, while QMK/VIA remaps every key and layer. Warranty cover is thin for international orders, and a misedited Fn layer can break Bluetooth pairing.

How this list is ranked

Who is eligible
Every mechanical and Hall effect (magnetic switch) keyboard in our reviewed catalogue is included. Scissor-switch keyboards are left out, and so are second listings of the same keyboard. The list opens on current models, those released in the last 2½ years (since Apr 2024); choose Include older models under Models to list them too. A product without a release date on record is always listed.
How they are ordered
By default, products are ordered by Ranking Net Score: points from reviews and discussions plus points from votes on BettaScore. Ties go to the product with more sources. Filtering or sorting renumbers the results from No. 1. Products without scored evidence stay Unranked and are not numbered.
Where the evidence comes from
547 public review sources across the matching products. Select a review topic on any card to see the quotes behind its points.
When it changes
The product list and review scores change only when we publish a reviewed update. Signed-in visitors can vote on each review topic (open a topic on a card): every vote adds or takes 0.1 points from that topic and from the Ranking Net Score straight away, and the order follows on the next page load. Votes are stored apart from review evidence, so they carry over between updates. Review evidence is from October 7, 2026.
Who pays for it
Nobody. BettaScore does not accept payment for placement. Each card shows review points and topic-vote points separately, even though their sum sets the default order.

What to look for in a mechanical keyboard

Start with size and connection: a full-size board keeps the number pad, while tenkeyless, 75% and 60% boards free desk space; decide whether you need wireless and switching between devices.

Then compare what the evidence says about typing feel and sound, build quality, how reliable the keys and connection are, and how good the software is for remapping and lighting.

Questions to take to every card on this page

  • Which layout and size suit your desk and work?
  • Do you want wired, wireless or both?
  • How does it feel and sound to type on?
  • Is the software usable, and do keys and connection stay reliable?

Frequently asked questions

What does this mechanical keyboard list cover?
All reviewed mechanical keyboards in our catalogue. Products with scored review evidence get a rank; the rest stay on the list, marked Unranked.
How is the default order calculated?
Ranking Net Score adds points from reviews and discussions to points from BettaScore votes, and each card shows both parts. A vote counts right away: it updates the card and can move the product in the list.
How do filters and sorting affect rank?
They apply to the whole list and renumber the results: scored matches start from No. 1, and products without scored review evidence stay Unranked. Filtering and sorting never change a product's review or vote points.
Why are some specifications missing?
BettaScore shows only the facts it has on record. An unknown value is not treated as No, and we never fill a missing specification or evidence section with a made-up claim.
