    Why it ranks
Outage runtime is the draw: it can keep a fridge, lights and other essentials going for about a day, and fast AC recharging refills it quickly. It is heavy and hard to lift, so plan to roll it on its wheels.

    • Can run an air conditioner for hours
    • Dense, tight build with nothing rattling
    • 30 A DC output suits 12 V gear

    Why it ranks
A wall outlet refills it in roughly an hour to an hour and a half, and it held a 2,600-watt kettle load without strain. At nearly 42 pounds it is a heavy lift, and the app lacks alerts for outages or low battery.
    What people praise
    • Add-on battery can double capacity later
    • Fans stay low and easy to ignore
    • Tactile buttons and knowledgeable phone support

    Why it ranks
Modular batteries let you add capacity later without permits or contractors, and the 12 kW inverter can run much of a home at once. Heavy combined loads can trip it, and a single unit may not handle a large central AC's startup surge.
    What people praise
    • Easy to add solar to the system
    • Firmware updates keep improving it
    • Switches to battery power almost instantly
    Common complaints
    • Proprietary charging cable is costly to replace
    • Many functions depend on the cloud

Enough stored energy to keep a fridge, CPAP and other critical appliances going for about two days, and it runs silently indoors without fumes. At around 135 pounds it is heavy, and the transfer switch may need a manual restart instead of switching seamlessly.
    What people praise
    • Has held up through critical outages
    • Lights and fridge return in under a second
    • High-voltage solar input accepts your own panels

    Why it ranks
Outlets on both front and back keep a desk or always-on setup tidy, and a very low idle draw leaves more of the battery usable. There is no expansion battery port, and the carry handles are a weak point.
    What people praise
    • Switches to battery in under 10 ms
    • Ran an air conditioner for nearly three hours
    • User-friendly app

    What people praise

How this list is ranked

Who is eligible
Every portable power station in our reviewed catalogue is included, from small camping units to wheeled home-backup systems. Solar panels, coolers, fuel generators and installed home batteries are left out, and so are second listings of the same power station. The list opens on current models, those released in the last 2½ years (since Apr 2024); choose Include older models under Models to list them too. A product without a release date on record is always listed.
How they are ordered
By default, products are ordered by Ranking Net Score: points from reviews and discussions plus points from votes on BettaScore. Ties go to the product with more sources. Filtering or sorting renumbers the results from No. 1. Products without scored evidence stay Unranked and are not numbered.
Where the evidence comes from
528 public review sources across the matching products. Select a review topic on any card to see the quotes behind its points.
When it changes
The product list and review scores change only when we publish a reviewed update. Signed-in visitors can vote on each review topic (open a topic on a card): every vote adds or takes 0.1 points from that topic and from the Ranking Net Score straight away, and the order follows on the next page load. Votes are stored apart from review evidence, so they carry over between updates. Review evidence is from October 7, 2026.
Who pays for it
Nobody. BettaScore does not accept payment for placement. Each card shows review points and topic-vote points separately, even though their sum sets the default order.

What to look for in a portable power station

Start with what you need to run and for how long: add up the watts of the devices you'll plug in at once, and the hours you need them. That sets the output and battery capacity to look for, and how heavy a unit you'll be carrying.

Then compare what the evidence says about real-world runtime, how fast it recharges from the wall, car or solar, and fan noise. The Battery and UPS filters, taken from each maker's specs, show which units use long-life LiFePO4 cells and which switch over on their own when the power goes out.

Questions to take to every card on this page

  • Can it run your largest appliance, including its start-up surge?
  • Will one charge last as long as you need?
  • How fast does it recharge, and can it take solar?
  • Can you carry or wheel it where you'll use it?

Frequently asked questions

What does this portable power station list cover?
All reviewed portable power stations in our catalogue. Products with scored review evidence get a rank; the rest stay on the list, marked Unranked.
How is the default order calculated?
Ranking Net Score adds points from reviews and discussions to points from BettaScore votes, and each card shows both parts. A vote counts right away: it updates the card and can move the product in the list.
How do filters and sorting affect rank?
They apply to the whole list and renumber the results: scored matches start from No. 1, and products without scored review evidence stay Unranked. Filtering and sorting never change a product's review or vote points.
Why are some specifications missing?
BettaScore shows only the facts it has on record. An unknown value is not treated as No, and we never fill a missing specification or evidence section with a made-up claim.
Where do the Battery and UPS filters come from?
From each maker's own product pages, spec sheets and manuals, checked unit by unit, not from whether a review happened to mention them. A unit whose maker does not state its battery chemistry or a UPS switchover is simply not listed under that option.
