    • Installation is straightforward, with a C-wire adapter included

    Why it ranks
Packages on the doormat and the face of a visitor standing close both stay in frame, and the battery swaps out and it runs on 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Radar and Bird's Eye View may add little to motion detection, and charging means removing the cover.
    What people praise
    • Tall view keeps packages on the floor in frame
    • Wide, clear video fills the phone screen
    • Works on 5 GHz Wi-Fi and pairs well with Alexa
    Common complaints
    • Radar and Bird's Eye View may not improve motion detection

    Why it ranks
Color pre-roll captures the four seconds before motion is detected, and existing doorbell wiring can keep the quick-release battery charged. Reviewing past footage needs a paid plan, the vertical view is narrow, and package detection may not work well.
    What people praise
    • Color pre-roll records four seconds before motion
    • Quick-release battery makes recharging easy
    • Privacy zones block out areas you do not want recorded
    Common complaints

    • Radar motion sensing cuts missed HomeKit recordings
    • Works with Apple Home, SmartThings, Alexa and Google Home
    • Included chime repeater gives 95 dB alerts indoors

    Why it ranks
It wires in place of an existing doorbell, with a power kit and wire extenders in the box, and motion zones can be set in the app. Privacy is the main trade-off, given Ring's record of handing police access to camera footage.
    What people praise
    • Swaps in for an existing wired doorbell
    • Wire extenders included for short doorbell wires
    Common complaints
    • Ring's record of police access raises privacy concerns

How this list is ranked

Who is eligible
Every video doorbell in our reviewed catalogue is included, battery and wired models alike. Second listings of the same doorbell are left out. The list opens on current models, those released in the last 2½ years (since Apr 2024); choose Include older models under Models to list them too. A product without a release date on record is always listed.
How they are ordered
By default, products are ordered by Ranking Net Score: points from reviews and discussions plus points from votes on BettaScore. Ties go to the product with more sources. Filtering or sorting renumbers the results from No. 1. Products without scored evidence stay Unranked and are not numbered.
Where the evidence comes from
120 public review sources across the matching products. Select a review topic on any card to see the quotes behind its points.
When it changes
The product list and review scores change only when we publish a reviewed update. Signed-in visitors can vote on each review topic (open a topic on a card): every vote adds or takes 0.1 points from that topic and from the Ranking Net Score straight away, and the order follows on the next page load. Votes are stored apart from review evidence, so they carry over between updates. Review evidence is from October 5, 2026.
Who pays for it
Nobody. BettaScore does not accept payment for placement. Each card shows review points and topic-vote points separately, even though their sum sets the default order.

What to look for in a video doorbell

Start with your door: whether you have doorbell wiring or need a battery model, and which phone or smart home system you use. Check which features need a paid plan, such as saved video or person and package alerts.

Then compare what the evidence says about video quality by day and night, how fast and accurate motion alerts are, battery life, and installation.

Questions to take to every card on this page

  • Battery or wired: what does your door support?
  • Which features need a paid plan, and can it store video locally?
  • Are alerts fast and accurate, without too many false alarms?
  • Does it work with your phone and smart home system?

Frequently asked questions

What does this video doorbell list cover?
All reviewed video doorbells in our catalogue. Products with scored review evidence get a rank; the rest stay on the list, marked Unranked.
How is the default order calculated?
Ranking Net Score adds points from reviews and discussions to points from BettaScore votes, and each card shows both parts. A vote counts right away: it updates the card and can move the product in the list.
How do filters and sorting affect rank?
They apply to the whole list and renumber the results: scored matches start from No. 1, and products without scored review evidence stay Unranked. Filtering and sorting never change a product's review or vote points.
Why are some specifications missing?
BettaScore shows only the facts it has on record. An unknown value is not treated as No, and we never fill a missing specification or evidence section with a made-up claim.
Where do the Power, Works with and subscription filters come from?
From each maker's own product, support and plan pages, checked doorbell by doorbell. A doorbell counts for Records without a subscription only when its maker says recorded video can be saved and played back without a paid plan, for example on a microSD card or a home hub.
