My other major gripe is that there still is no Mission Control app.
That said, I really expected Specialized to take care of the entire problem instead of creating an awkward situation between me and the shop.

The frame looks better made than the CCX based on the welds, design, and how the battery is integrated into the downtube
I want to buy an ebike so I can commute to work every day. My commute is about 12 miles each direction with roughly 700 feet of elevation gain. I'm looking at class 3 bikes and I'm torn between two main options. There are some closeout Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0s being sold at a small discount, but the 4.0 is only a little more expensive. Even so, both are more expensive than the Juiced CrossCurrent X. Here's what I've been thinking: Specialized Vado advantages over the CrossCurrent X: - Better fenders on both versions, with fuller coverage and better construction - The frame looks better made than the CCX based on the welds, design, and how the battery is integrated into the downtube - All wiring is internal, while the CCX has external wiring - Both Vado levels use a 10-speed Shimano Deore, while the CCX has a 9-speed Shimano with no listed spec - Shimano hydraulic brakes, while the CCX has Tektro brakes with no listed spec - Thru-axles front and rear, while the CCX uses quick release - Much nicer fork than the CCX - 52 lbs, while the CCX is 65 lbs - The 2020 model has a much better control system than the CCX, with Mission Control and Bluetooth app integration, which the CCX does not have - It has a dealer network for repairs and warranty, and I can walk into a store and get one tomorrow - Lifetime frame warranty, while the CCX is one year - Two-year electronics warranty, while the CCX is one year - Battery warranty of 2 years or 300 charge cycles, while the CCX is one year - Specialized offers assisted replacement, meaning repair or replacement at a discount, for batteries, motors, displays, remotes, and cables for five years - Batteries use known high-quality cells like Panasonic and LG, while the CCX uses unknown cell manufacturers - All components are from known manufacturers, while Juiced doesn't list the manufacturer, size, or spec for many components CrossCurrent X advantages over the Vado 3.0/4.0: - Top speed in race mode is over 30 mph, while Specialized is 28 mph. I probably wouldn't use anything above 28 mph often with the CCX - It has both throttle and pedal assist. I don't care about throttle and would rather not have it - 750w motor, while Specialized has about 500w - 980Wh battery, while the Specialized 3.0 has 460Wh and the 4.0 has 500Wh - Brighter front light, though it is unbranded and may not have a good beam pattern. The Specialized light likely has better optics - Traditional rear rack. The rack on the Vado looks like it uses oval tubing, so a traditional pannier may not work. One review said Racktime bags were required, but I can't find that anywhere else - $2500, while the Vado 3.0 is $2700-$3100 and the 4.0 is $3500 The Specialized has more pros than the Juiced, and I think the warranty and use of known, branded components is a big deal. But if I only spend $2500 on the Juiced, I'd have more money left to upgrade things later, assuming the battery doesn't fail within a year. I've also read reports of problems with Juiced bike electronics involving moisture and breaking spokes. I haven't read any complaints like that about Specialized bikes. I'm heavily leaning toward the Vado 4.0 because of availability, warranty, and the spec of everything except motor power and battery size compared with the CCX. It seems worth spending more money for less range. Does that make sense?

Don't consider a hub motor, it will never be as good as the mid-drive.
This is a no-brainer, spend a little extra and you get a much higher quality product.
