Review Of The Niu Kqi3 Pro After About 500

  • Battery & Range0 pts

my average commute is about 3 miles and I can aaalmost do two round trips at mostly full throttle.

  • Brakes & Lights+1 pts

the front light is excellent—it's been a huge help on mornings when I leave at 6am.

  • Comfort, Fit & Noise-1 pts

With no suspension you feel every bump; the tire size helps a little but I find myself bunny hopping over a lot of stuff.

  • Portability & Folding-1 pts

Before buying I thought 40lbs would be easy to handle, but it can be a real pain to lug around sometimes.

  • Build & Reliability+1 pts

It's definitely built to last and can take some abuse—I've ridden through mud, puddles, rain, dirt, snow, potholes, and cracked sidewalks.

Got My Niu Kqi3 Pro Some Initial Impressions

  • Battery & Range+1 pts

Haven't tested the range yet but seems to be slightly higher than 20mi on a full charge

  • Brakes & Lights+1 pts

The headlight is also awesome. Seems pretty bright but looks very cool and unique.

  • Comfort, Fit & Noise-1 pts

Ride quality is pretty good - similar to a Ninebot Max - but definitely a bit bumpier (especially felt in the hands) given the lack of suspension

  • Portability & Folding0 pts

it's definitely not the easiest scooter to carry up a walkup apt, or fit in a sedan trunk.

  • App, Display & Security+1 pts

The app setup was quick and easy

  • Maintenance, Support & Value+1 pts

Overall, this thing seems like a steal for $600.

Just Had My Niu Kq3 Pro Stolen Suggestions On

  • Battery & Range+1 pts

    the range is very nice

  • Handling, Terrain & Tires0 pts

On a scooter it makes maneuverability great since you hardly ever need to hit the brakes.

  • Build & Reliability+1 pts

My KQ3 Pro was stolen earlier today (the lock was cut). I'd had a great experience with it over the past year. The only issue was a flat tire that I took to a bike shop to replace after ordering the replacement tire from Amazon. Next time I guess I'll invest in Tile/AirTags plus a motion alarm. Any recommendations on what to get next? I could just get another KQ3 Pro—looks like it's $550 on the website now. Otherwise the Gotrax G4 on Amazon looks to be around $500. Both seem pretty similar, so I'd love to hear pros of one versus the other. The built-in alarm on the Gotrax G4/G5 seemed pretty nice. EDIT JUNE 17th, 2024: I ended up getting a Gotrax G5. The motion alarm is nice, no idea if it will deter anyone. Battery life is fantastic compared to my old KQ3 Pro. Overall it's very similar. Downside: I miss the aggressive regen braking that the KQ3 Pro had. I'm used to driving Teslas and loved how the KQ3 Pro mimicked that. On a scooter it makes maneuverability great since you hardly ever need to hit the brakes. On my Gotrax I need to use the brake a lot. The other small difference is that the Gotrax goes into cruise control after 10 seconds of holding the accelerator down. At first I didn't like that—feels a bit dangerous—but I'm getting more used to it, so it may just be personal preference. Final thoughts so far: no major complaints. It rides basically the same as my old KQ3 Pro for my purposes and the range is very nice. A few personal preference items, but I'll probably get used to those quickly and not care.

Niu Kqi3 Pro 3 Months 650 Km Updated Review

  • Battery & Range+1 pts

Battery - It's pretty good range and weather wise + NIU has very good BMS.

  • Brakes & Lights+1 pts

Lighting is excellent, love the break light and headlight

  • Comfort, Fit & Noise-1 pts

The lack of suspension is a very fair trade off for the price of this scooter and it does just fine on roads but potholes you will wanna hold on tight or slow down.

  • Build & Reliability+1 pts

Build Quality - A tank. The Irish rainy weather has no affect on it.

  • Maintenance, Support & Value+1 pts

The customer service has gotten MUCH better & a parts store is now open.

the 9.5 inch diameter airfield tubeless tires do a great job of smoothing out the ride and have the bonus of being much more flat resistant than tires with tubes

  • Comfort, Fit & Noise-5 pts

on the very roughest pavement the grips can get a little buzzy

  • Portability & Folding+5 pts

it's not light but the stem is comfortable to hold making it easy for most people to carry up one to three flights of stairs
