Like many of you, I spent countless hours reading and reviewing all the comments in this subreddit, on youtube videos, and ostensibly "independent review" websites about robot vacuum cleaners. As a Christmas gift, I purchased the Dreame X50 after seeing high praise here and elsewhere for this vacuum. We have high thresholds, so we spent the extra money to get the version that has the leverage to cross thresholds. From day 1, I realized the vacuum function of this robot vacuum does not work. Nothing about this vacuum is capable of "vacuuming." There is debris left all over the house after it runs. Let's review each of its alleged features from the website (https://www.dreametech.com/products/x50-ultra-robot-vacuum) * "Dual Flex Arm Technology for Tricky Corners" Extended brushes and mop reach deeper into corners and under furniture * This is perhaps the most disappointing feature. I have followed the vacuum around many times. The extended brushes do not "extend" to reach corners. They stick out seemingly at random, but fail to reach any corners where dirt has piled up. Whats worse, the device does not clean along walls! With or without its AI features turned on, it will not vacuum along the sides of rooms. * 20,000Pa Vormax suction lifts dirt quietly with an advanced fluid-dynamic design * The vacuum is incapable of lifting dirt off the ground. It leaves dirt everywhere, even just after leaving the dock with a new bag. It has a "max suction mode" that does not change that it is incapable of lifting dirt especially around the edges of the house. Yes, I have replaced the bag, cleared any debris, and tried every iteration of settings possible. * World's first robotic retractable legs glide over obstacles up to 2.36 in with minimal noise * Even with a saved map, half the time it just runs into the threshold repeatedly before deciding to lift the retractable legs. * VersaLift lowers height to 3.5 in for smooth navigation with 360° smart mapping * This vacuum gets lost constantly in the house, despite remapping multiple times * DuoBrush tackles hair up to 11.8 in, preventing tangles and boosting suction * We have a dog. The bin on the vacuum gets clogged nearly every time and has no way to increase the number of visits to the dock to empty the bin. * Five modes customize cleaning by removing mops, avoiding carpets, or boosting suction * No customizable settings change that it cannot * UL Solutions Diamond-Level Certified for top-tier cybersecurity, keeping your home and data safe and fully protected * Great, I wouldn't want some hacker to see the dirt all over my house that this colossal waste of money leaves behind. * "Seamless App" * The app is not seamless, with many typos, and often times the settings Dreame help suggest do not exist in the app anywhere. * mopping performance * It is sub par. As of last week, the vacuum stops halfway through its program, returns to the dock, and shares no metrics about what was completed or not. It also makes a loud screeching noise as it goes around. I reached out to Dreame about these issues a week after we received it. They sent a replacement vacuum (same model). By the time we had received and tried that, we were past the return window. They will not refund this broken device. They have offered a replacement refurbished vacuum, but I cannot see any hope that it will perform anywhere near as advertised. Spend your money elsewhere. This company presents as a modern tech marvel, but there is nothing wondrous about this device. It will ruin your day by its inability to achieve anything vacuum related, annoy you while you spend hours and hours troubleshooting, and waste your time with constant back and forth with a company that cannot stand behind its useless product.
